Autumn Conference to Welcome European Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors to Prague

The Czech startup environment is gaining momentum, as evidenced by the international investment conference Engaged Investments, which, due to high demand, will offer a two-day program for the first time this year. Organizers expect three hundred participants. The prestigious event in Prague will bring together angel investors, fund investors, and representatives of venture capital funds, primarily focusing on startups from Central and Eastern Europe. The exclusive event, organized for the fifth year by the investment group DEPO Ventures, will provide investors with a deeper insight into the world of startups, expand their knowledge, and help strengthen their collaboration. The conference will take place on October 24th and 25th at the Kaiserštejnský Palace in Prague's Malá Strana.

Autumn Conference to Welcome European Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors to Prague

Supporting Czech Startup Ecosystem and Cross-Border Collaboration

"Engaged Investments conference connects different types of investors from various countries. It helps them navigate the world of venture capital more effectively. A strong startup ecosystem necessarily requires cross-border investing and collaboration between regions. This allows not only for sharing of financial resources and investments among angel investors and venture capital funds but also opens new markets and growth opportunities for startups. Cross-border collaboration also enables the transfer of know-how, technologies, and innovations between regions. And last but not least, it provides access to a larger pool of talented individuals," says Petr Šíma, Partner at DEPO Ventures.

Inspiration, Education, and Investment Space

The first day of the conference will be dominated by the Startup Fair, during which dozens of startups will be presented to participating investors. Founders will have the opportunity to showcase their projects and meet potential investors at their booths. Angel networks, venture capital funds, and partners such as the business and investment support agency CzechInvest will also be showcased at the booths.

Unlike the first, the conference's second day will be primarily dedicated to investors. It will offer panel discussions and interviews to address current topics influencing the venture capital world. Diverse and inspirational debates from experienced investors from the Czech Republic and other European countries are to be expected. DEPO Ventures will gradually announce the names of these investors. In previous years, participants included Ondřej Bartoš, Partner at Credo Ventures, Helery Pops, Co-founder of the Estonian fund Honey Badger Capital, and Cyril Golub, an angel investor and Chairman of the Latvian angel network LatBAN.

"We emphasize the quality of participants and the content of the conference. Every investor has the opportunity not only to gain inspiration and expertise from leading Czech and European investors but also to expand their professional network. Additionally, we will now offer access to quality startups presented during the Startup Fair on the first day of the conference. Participants can meet with founders and current or potential investors. Our aim for the conference is to bring value to every participant's profession," says Eliška Vámošová, Marketing Director of DEPO Ventures and conference organizer.

In addition to panel discussions, workshops, and roundtables will focus on specific areas such as deep tech, impact tech, or law, enabling active participation of attendees. Since building and deepening contacts in the startup world is crucial, networking opportunities will be facilitated through high-quality applications like Brella, managed speed dating, reverse pitches, and an investor dinner at the end of the second day of the conference.

Strong support from the ecosystem

DEPO Ventures has already established successful collaborations with esteemed partners such as J&T Ventures, OTB, Credo, Startup Yard, Baltic Sandbox, and Kaya VC, enhancing the ability to create real ecosystem event that is missing in the Czech Republic.

Comprehensive Accompanying Program

Engaged Investments will also offer a comprehensive accompanying program throughout the week. Events will include meetings of founders from the DEPO Ventures portfolio, a brunch for women investors organized by the Lithuanian fund Baltics Sandbox, breakfast with a foreign fund, and an evening event hosted by the Czech fund J&T Ventures. A two-day program strategically connects with the Disraptors event, which, in comparison to the Engaged Investments conference, focuses on startups.

"This strategic collaboration allows us to enhance the value for participants in our events mutually. They complement each other. While the Engaged Investments conference is focused on a specific group of investors, Disraptors is more inclusive and thematically focused on startups. Every participant in our event can also visit Disraptors, which is appreciated by foreign investors as it helps them better understand the Czech startup environment," explains Eliška Vámošová.
